The ANTS (Augmented Environments) project deals with models and architectures for augmented reality with a focus on the emerging devices and technologies. These new devices, with low processing power are very useful but need new programming paradigms and models to be integrated, namely ad-hoc networks and different ways to transfer processing to servers. We have an on-going AR project (ANTS) and we starting an internal project centered around a virtual museum to explore the definition of hypermedia models that can be applied to mixed reality. This project (ARISE) aims to develop a mobile system to aid and entertain the user when visiting a museum. It is intended to combine mobility, location awareness, contextual information access, multimedia content, and virtual environments. It uses a mixed reality interface in order to present rich context information, allow navigational experiences in virtual environments and establish a collaboration in a gamming set. It’s main objective is to explore the definition of hypermedia models that can be applied to mixed reality in an entertainment and context informative world.
